A TETRIS Movie Is Falling Into Place, An No This Is Not A Joke

Threshold Entertainment and the Tetris company are teaming up to bring a live action film,  based on the popular 80’s video game, to the big screen. Threshold’s CEO Larry Kasanoff sat down with The Wall Street Journal and told them in an exclusive interview:

““It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie. This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes.”

“Brands are the new stars of Hollywood,” he says. “We have a story behind ‘Tetris’ which makes it a much more imaginative thing.”

In the past Threshold has worked mostly in animation, including projects with Marvel, Lego, and “Star Wars”, but you may remember them as the production company behind the epic film MORTAL KOMBAT. There is currently no news as to who will direct or star in the film, or what the story will be for that matter but we do know that the ball is rolling and a TETRIS movie is in the works.

In a world where video game to movie adaptations have not been the best, I am not sure if it is a good or bad thing that the video TETRIS not only doesn’t have characters, but it also has no story at all. This will most certainly be an interesting project to follow. Where in the world will they take this film and why on earth will the TETRIS theme song not stop playing in my head!

What do you think? Are you excited for a TETRIS movie?
