You may know her as Primrose Everdeen from THE HUNGER GAMES franchise, but Willow Shields is doing a lot more these days than just acting along side Jennifer Lawrence. TEEN READ WEEK is a national literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association [YALSA] and runs from October 12-18th. Willow Shields recently filmed this PSA in support of this initiative. In addition to the PSA, Willow also recorded an on-camera introduction to outline the ‘Top Ten” list of winning books being voted on during Teen Read Week. That video will be placed on their website and social media pages at the end of the next week.
THE HUNGER GAMES is one of the largest YA franchises since HARRY POTTER and it is wonderful to see the success of the books, the films and it’s stars, but it is even better when these talented young actors get involved for the greater good. With so many amazing books being turned into films each year it is even more excited to be an avid reader, we find stories and characters that we fall and love with and in time we get to see it come to life on the big screen. Thanks Willow for supporting TEEN READ WEEK, every week should be reading week. Let us know what you’re reading. Which book have you been patiently waiting for them to turn into a film and what was your favorite book to film adaptation?
