There’s some groovy news out now for fans of THE EVIL DEAD film franchise. In a recent interview Bruce Campbell has confirmed that Lucy Lawless will be making an appearance in the upcoming ASH VS. THE EVIL DEAD television series. Lawless and Campbell have worked together several times before on XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, BURN NOTICE, and JACK OF ALL TRADES. Campbell said in an interview that it’s great to be working with her again.
“We just added her to our cast, and I got to tell you, I couldn’t be happier. Some actors you work with and you know that you’re going to fail the chemistry test. There are some that you know you won’t fail it. She’s great; I worked with her a lot in the Xena days, and it’s great to have her on Ash vs. Evil Dead.”
According to Starz, Lawless will be playing a character named Ruby, describing her as “a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks … the only problem: she believes that Ash (Bruce Campbell) is the cause of it all.” Filming will begin in April of this year and the series is scheduled to air in October. The series will follow Ash as he builds a young team to fight against Deadites. There is currently no word on whether any of the cast members from the 2013 reboot will make any appearances as well, however, at the risk of editorializing, I will say that I would personally love to see Ash, Ruby, and Mia team up against the forces unleashed by The Necronomicon. And if not, then this means fans can still probably look forward to watching Ash contend with someone much formidable than anything a Deadite can dish out. Whatever the case may be, ASH VS. THE EVIL DEAD looks as though it’s shaping up for some bloody good fun!
