Marvel Fans everywhere have been waiting for Earth’s mightiest heroes to reunite after three long years. Thankfully Marvel always does us fans right by giving us amazing stand-alone films with characters we all know and love. This Friday, May 1st our wishes are being granted by Disney, Marvel & the ever so talented Joss Whedon when AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON heads to theaters everywhere. Here are ten fun facts we learned from the film and press conference.
1. Everyone’s favorite superheroes are back, but wait there’s more.
It’s great to see Thor, Cap, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and more but it’s also fun to meet some new characters. This time around a lot of the work was done for director Joss Whedon who said:
“A lot of the questions have already been answered, so you know going in what you’ve got to work with,”
With so many origin stories already told, we are able to pick up right in the action and boy is it exciting!
2. Everyone deserves a little love in their life don’t they?
I know, I know it sounds silly but come on now, superheroes need love too! We have seen Thor and Iron Man fall for some pretty amazing women and there is just the right amount of a love story within AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and you will never guess who will be the next to fall in love.
3. Getting to know you, getting to know all about you
One of my favorite parts of the Marvel movies are not only the origin stories of the main characters, but the background we are given on all the characters and how it comes when you least expect it. Like in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER we learned a ton about Black Widow. Well in THE AVENGERS sequel we will get to know a little more about one of favorite avengers that will surprise most fans.
4. Maria Hill has a lot more work to do.
We all know and love Maria from her time with S.H.I.E.L.D. But now she has a new job and Cobie Smolders is excited about it saying:
” Yeah, well, Maria’s now under the employment of Tony Stark and you know, she’s now working with him to privatize security. And yeah, it’s very fun being a thread to be able to tie the TV show and the movies together. That’s been a lot of fun. But yeah, she’s got a bigger job now, she’s working, like I said, with Tony, and she doesn’t have S.H.I.E.L.D., at her disposal anymore, so it’s a much more difficult job.”
5. We finally get to see Vision and ULTRON and they look a bit familiar
When asked about Vision and ULTRON representing the good and bad of Tony Stark Whedon replied:
“You’re right, they do embody a little bit of him, but they’re also their own people. But I do see them as two sides of the same coin. I like the sort of accord between the two of them. I think there’s something beautiful about the fact that they see the same thing and react to it differently emotionally.”
6. We get out first look at the AVENGERS version of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen have worked together before and it’s easy to see they are completely comfortable together even if they didn’t work together much on GODZILLA. Going in together made it a bit easier on Olsen who said:
” I mean, it’s kind of intimidating joining this group, so like, I got to do it with Aaron, by my side.”
Taylor-Johnson agreed saying:
” Yeah, it was comforting to know, like stepping on set, when it was such a big ensemble and cast that you kind of had some to feel comfortable with, absolutely, yeah.”
7. Robert Downey Jr. may be just hilarious yet picky in real life as his character Iron Man
Downey Jr was making jokes through the entire press conference held in Beverly Hills but when it came to the script, there were no jokes and no fixing it. He said:
” I said: I think this is great. Kevin said, “You never say that. You can’t mean that.” I said, “Yeah, I think it’s great. Let’s go shoot it.” I thought it was a Swiss watch to begin with and Joss really created some great new situations for Tony to be in, so rather than dig in my heels and try to rewrite every scene, to make them even better, if possible, I showed up and it turned out great.”
8. We all love to see The AVENGERS assemble both on and off the screen
The one thing I loved more than anything was seeing our very own AVENGERS in real life acting the same as they do on the big screen minus the fighting! They are laughing, making jokes and truly enjoying each other’s company by of course poking fun at each other. With every movie the cast becomes a sort of family, they share and experience together and every film is different but the AVENGERS all carry little pieces of their characters in their daily lives which is so fun to see as a fan.
9. This is currently Joss Whedon’s last AVENGERS movie
Whedon is a superhero in his own right to most Marvel movie fans and knowing this is currently set to be his last AVENGERS movie, it has to make you think he will be bringing his “A” game.
10. Lights, Camera, Action
As we have seen with each new Marvel film that comes out the special effects get better and better and it is no different here. The film is literally beautiful. The intense action scenes are shot in a way that you feel like you are right in on the action especially if you choose to see the film in 3D.
If you are a die-hard Marvel fan or even if your just a superhero fan, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will make you laugh, possibly tear up, scream and want to jump out of your seats cheering Earth’s mightiest hero’s on and don’t forget…Avengers Assemble.
