This summer, get lost, get found, but most importantly get ready to fall in love with PAPER TOWNS. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by John Green, PAPER TOWNS is the story of Quentin and his crush on the girl next door, Margo Roth Spiegelman. Quentin and Margo have lived next door to each other their whole lives and were close as small children, but not even the tragic incident they once shared would keep them as close as they once where when one of them becomes more popular than the other. Quentin had his group of friends but Margo was one of the most popular girls at their high school, which meant she also had the popular boyfriend to go with it. Quentin often felt like Margo had no idea who he was until one night changed everything forever.
PAPER TOWNS is directed by Jake Schreier (ROBOT & FRANK) and takes place in Orlando, Florida. The writing duo that brought you THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, wrote the screenplay based on the novel by Green, for this film as well. The film stars Cara Delevingne, Austin Abrams, Halston Sage, Justice Smith and Nat Wolff who you may remember as Isaac in TFIOS. In the description of the book and film it says:
“Margo loved mysteries so much she became one.”
In the trailer you are introduced to all the characters in the film and even get to see a little bit of Margo’s “Revenge Mission” that she and Quentin go on the night before she disappears. As a huge fan of John Green’s novels and the film adaptation of TFIOS I have been extremely excited for this film since it was first announced and have been patiently waiting for a trailer to see if it would be as good as the last John Green adaptation. I knew right away that Wolff was the perfect casting choice to play Quentin, but I was not initially sold on Cara Delevingne as Margo mostly because the character is extremely layered and Cara’s background is modeling. Although we will see her in the upcoming SUICIDE SQUAD up until now we have only seen her in ANNA KARENINA but I have to admit from the looks of this trailer I am now even more excited for the film.
One thing John Green has nailed is the coming of age tale, he masterfully tells stories, creates characters that you will fall in love with and relate to all while pulling on your heart. Having read all of his books and fallen in love with each of them for very different reasons, the thing that gets me every time with Green’s novels is the brutal honesty and reality in his stories. Each book is grounded in reality, it shows every side of a coming of age tale, not just the happily ever after which to me is more important. In real life, especially in our teenage years, we fall in love, we get hurt and we grow up. Green understands teenagers in such a way that when he tells stories you are sucked in hook, line and sinker. While his books are written for the young adult, more and more adults have read and fallen in love with his stories and characters. One thing is for sure whether you are reading his books or checking out the film, you will laugh, you will cry and you may even fall in love.
Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are as excited as we are for the film and don’t forget PAPER TOWNS hits theatres everywhere July 24, 2015.
