On June 8th, 2015 Universal Pictures released a both an extended first look and featurette for the upcoming JURASSIC WORLD, which opens June 12th, 2015. In the first look we get a quick glimpse at the scene leading up to Chris Pratt’s raptor training session along with a little bit more build up before the kids are attacked during their gyroshpere ride. As such, we don’t really see much new that we hadn’t already seen from previous trailers. However, the new featurette focuses on paleontologist Jack Horner and the work he did as a consultant for the film. He walks us through a few of the dinosaurs in this film that we haven’t seen in previous installments that we can look forward to seeing when the film is released this weekend. Having worked on all four of the JURASSIC PARK films, Horner is seen as the resident expert on both dinosaurs and the series. He was also asked to help them design the new Indominus Rex, the main big bad of the new film. For Horner, working on the fourth installment means a lot to him, as it feels like the culmination of all the work they’ve done working on this franchise over the last 20 years. He states:
“For me, Jurassic World is fulfillment of this thing we’ve dreamed about since 1993, we finally get to see a real dinosaur park.“
As much as I love the first two films, I’ve been extremely skeptical about JURASSIC WORLD given the Raptor motorcycle gang featured in most of the billboards I’ve seen around town. However, actually hearing a little bit about the work Horner has done for the franchise, I find myself more excited for the film than ever before. I can’t say that I think the film will be anywhere near as good as the first, but for the first time since the film was announced I feel like I’m actually going to be able to enjoy myself watching the movie. Sure nothing will ever match my childhood nostalgia, but that doesn’t mean this next film won’t be a lot of fun anyway.

What do you think of the new featurette? Are you ready for the park to open, or do you think this series should have stayed extinct? Be sure to let us know @TheMovieChickk!
