Ever since KUNG FU PANDA 2 was released in 2011, Dreamworks fans have been wondering if third installment would ever be released so that audiences could see Po search for his long lost family. Well, on June 18th, 2015 we caught our first glance at Po’s next big journey when Dreamworks released the first official trailer for KUNG FU PANDA 3.
The trailer doesn’t show us much about the movie’s overall plot, nor does it touch on the upcoming supernatural villain named Kai that Po will have to defeat. However, from what we can see, audiences can expect the same stellar animation and beautifully choreographed action scenes from the previous two installments, as well as a continuation of the story from where we left off after part two. While I personally think KUNG FU PANDA 2 will be hard to top (honestly, how can Kai hope to compete with Gary Oldman’s Lord Shen from the second one? He was just the best!), getting a glimpse of this new film is pretty satisfying. Not only does the action look just as top notch as its predecessors, but the franchise’s sense of humor also seems to be intact.
Returning cast members include Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, and David Cross all reprising their roles from the previous films. They are joined this time around by Bryan Cranston as Li, Rebel Wilson as Mei Mei, and J.K. Simmons as the villainous Kai (oh, ok that’s how Kai can compete; I retract my previous assumption).
The film is currently scheduled for release in January 29th, 2016.
