In the trailer we are invited to the fairy tale party of the year. It is a different take on fairy tales as we see right off the bat in the beginning where we see this films version of Little Red Riding Hood as she welcomes us to “Red Riding Hood TV'” where she is joined on camera by none other than the wolf she is usually running from. Puss In Boots, Cinderella, The Seven Dwarfs, Snow White and all of our favorite story book characters are arriving to Princess Rose’s, aka Sleeping Beauty, Red Carpet birthday party. Why wouldn’t the Princess have a red carpet party in 2015? Much like we saw in FROZEN there is a curse put on the entire kingdom, which of course freezes everything in it, only this time it is an evil queen who sets the curse in motion rather than a confused princess who is unaware of the capacity of her powers. Enter your unlikely hero, the youngest dwarf Bobo, who accidentally pricked the Princess’s finger with the cursed needle. While it says in the official synopsis of the film, the prick sends the kingdom into a century long slumber, from the looks of the trailer they look a bit more frozen than they do asleep. Bobo and the other six dwarfs must travel in search of Rose’s true love Jack who is the only one who can save the curse with yup you guessed it, a kiss.

While we have seen many versions of these beloved fairy tales, I do like that they are least mixing it up a little by having all of the characters in one story and having the roles change in a way as well. Obviously there were no dwarfs in any version of SLEEPING BEAUTY that we have seen so far so this gives me a bit of optimism that we are getting a new take on classic stories we all love. I also have to admit that the trailer is absolutely adorable, while parents may be bored with fairy tales at this point at least they are getting a new story, and I think children will absolutely love it. THE SEVENTH DWARF opens in New York and Los Angeles on July 31, 2015. Check out this new trailer below and let us know what you think of it and if your kids are excited for THE SEVENTH DWARF.
