Naughty Or Nice? Check Out The Trailer For The Holiday Horror Comedy KRAMPUS!

He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you’re awake, he knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake! I hope you’re in the holiday spirit, because the trailer for the upcoming horror comedy KRAMPUS has been released!

One-part CHRISTMAS VACATION, one-part GREMLINS, this upcoming film is about a young boy named Max (Emjay Anthony) who turns his back on Christmas when his dysfunctional family begins to clash over the holidays. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.

All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.

The horror-comedy also stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner, Allison Tolman, Conchata Ferrell, Stefania Lavie Owen and Krista Stadler.

Krampus and his mischievous underlings have been created by the combined efforts of Weta Workshop and Weta Digital, both renowned for their epic work on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies and King Kong, among many others.

Written and directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick ’r Treat), Krampus is co-written by Zach Shields and Todd Casey and produced by Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni, Alex Garcia and Dougherty. The film will be released by Universal Pictures.

Anyone who checked out our Horror Round Up from Comic-Con this year should know that I’m very excited for this film. GREMLINS was one of my favorite films while I was growing up, as was THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, and it’s been a long time since a holiday monster film has come to theaters. The creature designs look fantastic, and to this trailer’s credit the Krampus itself is not shown in its entirety. I am curious to see how much intelligence this creature has, to see whether or not the filmmakers will try to anthropomorphize the Anti-Santa as a type of holiday boogeyman, or if they will make it as monstrous as possible. In any case, I’m always up for a monster throw back film, and I can’t wait to see if this film has the makings of becoming a holiday classic!

What did you think of the trailer? Does it have you excited for the holidays, or does this film have you saying “bah humbug”? Be sure to let us know @TheMovieChickk!

KRAMPUS will be released in theaters on December 4th, 2015.
