There’s no doubt that Pixar has an amazing track record when it comes to their animated features. In their upcoming film, THE GOOD DINOSAUR, they take a look at the possibility of a world where both dinosaurs and humans coexist.
THE GOOD DINOSAUR asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.
What’s surprising about this trailer when compared to the first one is that we find out that the young human in the story isn’t our main character, but rather the young dinosaur Arlo who has been separated from the rest of his family. Given that it seems the story centers around the two forming a bond with one another in order to survive, this film seems to be one part THE LAND BEFORE TIME and one part ICE AGE. While the opening scene in the trailer with Arlo and his father makes me raise an eyebrow (making me wonder about whether or not it’s perhaps borrowing a little too much from that first film I mentioned), the trailer itself is pretty adorable; so much so that it’s difficult for even a curmudgeon like myself not to smile when I watch it. The animation looks gorgeous, as we have all come to expect from a Pixar film. Though I will always be biased when it comes to my choice of dinosaur films, THE GOOD DINOSAUR looks as though it’s shaping up to be a delightful family treat this holiday season.
THE GOOD DINOSAUR opens in theaters November 25, 2015!
