When Worlds Collide: GODZILLA VS KONG Confirmed!

Legendary confirmed on October 14th that there will indeed be a movie in which Godzilla and King Kong meet: GODZILLA VS KONG has been confirmed for release in 2020.

Three words, you guys: GIANT. MONSTER. SHOWDOWN.

With the news that Legendary was releasing King Kong and Godzilla movies, fans started speculating that we would eventually get a faceoff between the two titans. It looks like those rumors have come true in a fantastic way: we’re getting another film in each franchise (KONG: SKULL ISLAND on March 17, 2017, and GODZILLA 2 on June 8, 2018), and then we’re getting a mashup the likes of which we haven’t seen in decades. The last time we had this particular crossover was in 1963’s KING KONG VS GODZILLA, and special effects have come a long way since then.

According to Legendary, the human organization Monarch that appeared in GODZILLA will be the thread that ties the films together and paves the way for other well known kaiju, including Mothra, King Gidorah, and Rodan. Whether MechaGodzilla will make an appearance remains to be seen.

I for one am super stoked at the prospect of more giant monster fights, and extremely excited to see even more monsters join the lineup in upcoming films. What do you guys think? What monster would you like to see show up in these movies? (Can I put in my vote for Clover from CLOVERFIELD? She counts, right?) Either which way, I’ll see you all at the theater in 2020!
